The Houston Area Wargamers Facebook group has been in existence now for the last two years and has grown to include 72 members. Quiet for the longest time, over the last few months the message traffic has increased considerably.
Recognizing that there are quite a few wargamers living in the NW Houston area, we’re going to try to set up a monthly gathering of wargamers at VFW Post 8905, the second Monday night of every month, from 6pm – 9pm. The Post will let us use the space for free, they have a bar, and plenty of large tables. Post 8905 is off the 290 at 21902 Hempstead Highway, Cypress, near Weiser Air Park, east of Teige Rd. This location should be convenient for many of you.
While we know it is short notice, we are going to have our first wargame night there tomorrow evening. Geoff Webb and I will be playing some A&A naval minis but all are welcome to swing by, bring a board wargame, minis, FOW, FOG, etc. All the Post asks is that we try and wrap up our gaming by 9pm.
We also plan to chat with them about setting up one Saturday afternoon each month that we can come use their tables, for those who prefer their wargaming on the weekend.
Think of this as a cross between a Houston Area Wargaming gathering, a Houston Beer & Pretzel Wargaming “Northwest”, and just a generic wargamer Meetup.
We’ll use the aforementioned Facebook group to arrange games with each other and perform administrative communication about these meetups, and I’ll also be publicizing and sharing AARs and making announcements about it here for those who aren’t Facebook users.
Hope to see you there.
